75 Years of VEMAG – From a Local Machine Manufacturer to a Global Engineering Specialist
A Success Story of the Engineering Art
VEMAG Maschinenbau GmbH has been developing and producing machines and attachments for the food industry and small scale segment for 75 years. With constant focus on customer demanded solutions for filling, portioning, forming and loading of food products, VEMAG has been able to advance to position 25 in the Top Rankings of German mid-size segment companies[i].
Vacuum Filling Machines – The Key to Success
The company named Holz- und Gerätebaugesellschaft mbH was founded in Verden in 1944 during the last turbulent post-war years, and, in 1950 rebranded into VEMAG Verdener Maschinen- und Apparatebau GmbH. The producer of diverse investment and consumable products, such as church clocks and honey separators, has emerged into an innovation leader for vacuum technology and a globally active company.
The key role to the success has been the development of the continuous vacuum filling machine for the industrial, mid-size and small scale segment, in order to fill and transport dough mass and sausage emulsion reliably and evenly.
Modular System for the Highest Flexibility
Yet, another mile stone for the company has been the innovation of the double screw technology, a unique selling point of the Verden-based company, till today. The Double Screw Feed System handles the filling material with utmost care, reducing the product losses and optimizing the total costs of the process through the stability of this proven technology.
Different types of double screws, alternatively also rotary vane pumps, serve only one main purpose: The combination of a vacuum filling machine and a matching attachment to help the customers succeed.
The variety of modular combinations along with individually customized attachments make filling and portioning possible with an almost unlimited range of applications in the food processing sector, as well as in other branches like filling of pet food, tobacco, pharmaceutical products and explosives for mining.
The original focus on ever growing traditional craft was quickly shifted on to the industrial applications thanks to continuous customer orientation and with the help of modular systems, in order to meet the growing needs of the food industry and match the increasing company sizes.
With a turnover share for vacuum filling machines of around 40 percent, VEMAG Maschinenbau GmbH has extended its portfolio to all-embracing customer needs through applications, service and expertise. The total solutions in portioning, filling, forming and loading of liquid and paste-like products became a part of the DNA of the company.

On the Growth Track
The strength of the continuously growing company lies in maintaining an eye-to-eye contact with the customer: individual consultancy, technological support, knowledge transfer and training possibilities are self-evident.
