Entirely Priced – Bizerba GLM-levo Labelling system with C-wrap applicator

with the GLM-Ievo, in future it will also be possible to label skin packs with C-wrap labels.

Bizerba introduces the C-wrap applicator for the GLM-levo at Interpack 2014, Hall 14, Stand B14. Traditionally, packaging is marked with prices, information and advertising content from above and below. Bizerba has developed an alternative with its C-wrap marking process. This allows data to be printed on the side of the packaging, thus providing new possibilities for marketing on the shelf. In addition, all content can be presented on a single label, which surrounds the product on three sides, forming a "C" shape. The GLM-levo applicator can process up to 120 packages a minute. All important and necessary customer information about the product can be presented in an attractive, clear manner.
The new European Food Information Regulation (LMIV) that comes into effect in late 2014 requires that considerably more information be provided on food products than previously. However, the labels used currently are too small to contain the extended information, while larger labels would cover up too much of the product. Bizerba's C-wrap system provides a suitable solution to this problem: the ability to print on three sides means that all necessary product information can be provided without appearing overloaded. In addition to normal packaging, C-wrap is also capable of handling thermoformed packaging (skin packs). Dieter Conzelmann, Industry Solutions Director at Bizerba, explains: "Thanks to the printing on the side, the consumer always knows what the product is, even when it is stacked on the shelves. Important information about possible allergenic ingredients, for instance, can be recognised at first glance," says Conzelmann."

Plug-In label and quality check inside provide high security and flexibility
By using Bizerba plug-in labels, the GLM-levo price marking device reconfigures itself fully automatically when switching products, since all important information is stored on the label. This is possible due to a special form of carrying paper that contains a code. The marking device can read the product parameters from this. The machine automatically configures the correct processing for this label. For instance, the distance between product and applicator is stored in this information. This ensures intelligent production according to the Industry 4.0 approach.

For even greater flexibility, a broad spectrum of various weighing conveyors between 300 and 700 millimetres in length are available. The system is conceived modularly, so that feed conveyors, separator belts and weighing conveyors can be easily replaced without tools whenever they wear out.

The fully automatic GLM-levo price marking device weighs and labels up to 200 packages per minute. The built-in BVS-levo (Bizerba Vision System) automatically monitors texts, barcodes, expiration dates and nutritional labels, it can even visually inspect seal strength. If required, it ejects defective packages from the production line using a pusher. "Manufacturers can conduct 100% quality controls and reduce the number of product returns," says Conzelmann.
